  • 1/4 c shortening
  • 3/4 c full-flavor molasses
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 3 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Decorator Icing
  • Assorted candies, non-perils, nuts, cereal, crackers, or anything else you would like to decorate with.
Directions
  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease jelly roll pans as needed.
  • Mix brown sugar, shortening, and molasses in a large bowl. Stir in the cols water. Stir in remaining ingredients except for frosting & assorted candies.
  • Roll dough out with a rolling pin to 1/2 inch thick. Cut out accordingly {use my pattern on my Gingerbread Houses Post}.
  • Bake 1 pan at a time for 15 minutes. Cool Completely.
  • Use the decorating frosting on the edges to build the house & decorate with candy.
  • * Hint: Crushed up hard candy or suckers melts perfectly in the windows to create a stained glass effect. Just add it before baking.
